The firepit would be rectangular and would (given the status and wealth of the house) have an iron grate. Trench style firepits where the norm.

Coal, when not being an ass, is a nice boy. You draw him so likeable. Plus Ingolf is right, multi tool for the win.
After all, the only thing you can do with a sword is kill.
Holding a sword is as much a statement of intent as it is a weapon.
