In general, I have admired the high quality of the art-work, which is essential to the “simple” style. Even the shading tells a story: here, we have Coal literally in the spotlight; the only other hard highlight is on Ingolf’s knuckles — literally, white-knuckled grip. (I might be reading more into this than I was supposed to, but I don’t care, “I will prefer my old mumpsimus over your new-fangled sumpsimus”).
Alas that we don’t get to choose our tastes. We grow, learn, discover, acquire & refine. But while we can deny & pretend, and we can apply self-discipline, still we like what we like, even when we know better and hate ourselves for it: We don’t get to choose what makes us laugh.
Sure is. Not nice when reality of your situation smacks you one. Love the way you have Coal gripping his arms. Shows the tension nicely.

Poor Coal. All he can do now is work on this…
*thunk*
Dang. Coal has been looking so much like a grown man lately and today we’re reminded that he really is just a 15yo kid.
who is going to be stuck at that awful hormonal and brain growth time for eternity…. it will never end for him.
