Coal’s look of utter confusion mixed with genuine concern in panel 6 is perfect. All this time he’s been callous and dismissive toward her, and she just sort of smiled and went with it. Now he finally sees the error of his ways, and he decides to say a few sincere kind words to her… and it makes her so sad she cries! Confusing!
That last panel of Hedda is …visceral. Very nice work. It’s interesting that that realization snapped Coal back into undead-mode.
I’ve always wondered if Hedda was scared of Coal et al. and now I wonder even more. I hope this moment is showing that she has become comfortable enough with her traveling party to let her reality show. I hope that she isn’t still scared.
Also, my desire to bake cookies for all these kids is increasing.
There are a few moments in fiction where a slave really speaks their mind on what it means to be a slave that I think are perfect, and this is one of them in my book. Not just for what Hedda says and how she reacts to Coal, but Coals reaction to Hedda. The fact that he’s been seeing her a human rather than a slave makes the realisation of what slavery is that much harder for him to ignore.
Heavy stuff here. Some interesting perspective for someone of noble birth to be exposed to, especially considering he tried to give her away to Loki’s family when she first joined the party.

He’s never given much thought to how enslaved people might feel, but now he can’t avoid it.

I’m sure they’d all love cookies. Even Coal.

This is a good reminder that even kind slave masters are bad.
Absolutely. Any person who enslaves another person is bad.

Haha, yeah Coal’s come a long way.
One day, Hedda will have a headstrong, roaring, loose cannon moment, and that will be growth!
That will be a very fun day, lol.
Is there, is there no update? Did I miss something?
I forgot to put the page up!!! My bad.
