Velkommen!
Thistil Mistil Kistil is a comic about vikings, Norse gods, and their adventures together (or against each other). Updates are on Thor’s Day.
Even if he gets a new little brother in the meantime, His parents will miss him terribly and Arne will miss his parents.
Aw, he won’t be gone that long! Hopefully….
This is so sweetly sad! The hat is so cute And I love how you manage to make a brightly colored scene seem melancholy.
Alas, losing a kid is hard.. It makes me wonder if we’ll ever really come back to Ibrahim’s family or Arne’s family, since the focus is not on them once they lose their respective kids – though of course Arne’s situation is way less panic-inducing for everyone involved. Will we ever see any reunions?
I really admire how skillfully this comic establishes relationships between characters, both in showing characters make new relationships that grow in believable and interesting ways – Coal and Ibrahim’s friendship is my favorite example of this so far! -, and in quickly establishing strong preexisting relationships.
Is there a specific reason Arne associates the armbands with his parents?
First: thank you so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying the comic. Exploring the different relationships people can have is always fascinating. I’m glad it’s also believable, lol.
As for the armbands, each one has been worn by either Aud or Ingolf since we met them. Aud always had the silver one (a gift from Thorfinn, her first husband), and Ingolf always wore the gold one (a gift from Aud when she made him her lawspeaker). When Ingolf was injured, Aud put his band on her arm. It’s pretty subtle, and not something pointed out in the story up till now, but it’s been there all along! It’s very easy to miss when we’ve spent the last…several years in Iceland, lol.
