Just discovered this comic today and read the whole thing! This is really good. I like the artstyle and how it changes to fit the mood and your interpretations/character designs are great! The story is also super interesting and I can’t wait to see what happens.
I have a question for the author though, if you don’t mind? Regarding Sigyn. it’s stated/insinuated that she is a Jotun (If I’ve read this correctly) like Loki but I always thought that she was an Aesir. I’m wondering if my sources are wrong or if her being Jotun is one of multiple interpretations which I’ve missed.
Also what sources did you use to do the research for this webcomic?
Wow I am sorry for the long comment but again I just want to say this is super great !!!
Don’t be sorry! I love long comments. 😀 And I’m really glad you’re enjoying the comic so far. Thank you!
As for Sigyn, it is mainly my interpretation that she’s a jotun. At the same time, I’m not entirely sure what she was to begin with. She’s mentioned very little in the Poetic and Prose Sagas (two of my sources, incidentally), and usually just tagged as “Loki’s wife.” I do vaguely remember (but my memory sucks) that she was listed with a bunch of Aesir goddesses, but in that same list Loki was listed with Aesir gods, when he’s not really a member of the Aesir at all. A number of wives and mothers of gods are jotun too. I imagine there was a lot of intermingling. In the end, it’s purely my interpretation, and anyone who wants to say Sigyn is of the Aesir would have as much proof as I do! Which is not much. XD
For sources, I looked at a lot of internet sites (some are listed in the Links section) as well as books. I made a little store that has all the books I’ve used for reference through Amazon, which is located here. The Kevin Crossley-Holland book of myths is a really good introduction to Norse mythology and is written very well. The Sagas can be pretty dry and hard to interpret, but it’s always good to look at the original source (granted there could be translation issues and whatever but oh well).
I hope that helps! I might actually want to put the Sigyn question in the FAQs since I’ve gotten that multiple times. Thanks so much for reading! 😀
ah! I asked about Sigyn because she has quickly become one of my favorite norse gods and I had never seen her interpreted as a jotun so I was very interested to hear your point of view. (It’s hard loving someone who gets so little ‘canon’, but I manage :D)
Thanks for the links as well, those are really great!
Oh, cool! Yeah Sigyn is hardly mentioned in the myths, so she’s open to a wide interpretation. That’s extra fun for me since I can make her however I want. :3 She’s not much in the main comic, but I do plan to make a bonus story telling how she and Loki met. I’m glad the links helped you, and thank you again for reading! 😀
Anyway, I’ve recently realized just how far we’ve come. It seems just recently we were seeing Hedda’s ordeals, and then…Coal was just dealing with his Valkyrie and, dang! Nostalgia pulled a sneak attack on me. But I’m really excited to see the comic’s future <3 Hard to believe that stuff can be considered its past. 😀
I know, it’s been a long time, huh? Too long a time, really, but oh well. It’s a fairly steady pace, at least! It means a lot that so many people have stayed with me for over two years now. :3 Thank you!
I’ve been reading this for a while, and it really deserves a comment. I love the characters, the story, the design, the layout, the research…you name it. Keep up the good work.
Why do I feel like Loki is going to pretend to be asleep at some point?
That is a good way to learn secrets!
What would Coal look like with a side ponytail, Loki with something awesome, and Hedda with braids?
Haha! Those sound like fun to draw. :3
There’s a Hair Style meme floating around DeviantArt.
I have a question for Rollo. Do you like coal especially because you technically “belong” to him, or is it 100% natural?
I’m really surprised Rollo’s getting any questions at all! But I love it. 😀
Hedda’s looking much happier now. Who knows, she might even manage to make Coal break his grumpy expression again.
Also, love Rollo’s startled expression. He totally did not realise Hedda was up.
Hahaha! Yeah Rollo better pay better attention.
I’ll just casually step over Loki….. x] lol
Well he’s right in the way! Silly Loki.

I know you probably hear this a lot, but Hedda, you are so adorable.
Haha, if Hedda could hear you she would say thanks. 😀
Ahaha, I love how Coal just casually jumps off.

Thank you so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying it so far, and finally commented. 😀 I’ll keep trying my hardest to make TMK a good comic. <3
